Great value for options. Supposedly the brightest most powerful of Black Diamond's lamps. Lightweight and lots of options.

Pros

  • Long battery life
  • Bright
  • Lots of functions

Cons

  • Haven't found one yet

Supposed to have the longest battery life of any Black Diamond headlamp, I don't know because it's the first headlamp I have bought, always used a flashlight. Takes 3 AAA batteries. Has lots of options. Has two side lights which will light up the trail and that's about it, great for conserving battery power.

The main light is very bright, I would say it lights up about 60-75 yard distance, does burn batteries a little faster, but still lasts quite a long time. Haven't had any problems with batteries getting cold, they are right behind the light on your forehead.

Has red light for night vision. No battery life gauge, but that actually uses some battery life to function so not losing much there. Fares very well in wet stormy weather, will hamper distance of the light though. Does have a lock on it so you can lock the light so it won't come on in your pack and run batteries dead.

Does take a little while to learn the operations because has several functions. Has strobe on Red light and spot light. Oh yeah I did drop it about 10 feet and not a scratch (which I was probably lucky being it is plastic cased) but has never let me down.

All in all a great light for a good price.
