Black Diamond LiveWire Quickdraw
Price Paid: $22
I just bought a rack of 12 of these for Sport, and i must say they are sweet. A well balanced and smooth clipping draw for the rope and the bolt.
The small changes between these Karbiners in this draw versus the other in BD line are evident in the increased performance of this Quickdraw. the keylock top slides easily onto even manky bolts with small oddly tapped holes, not that you want to clip those but there are plenty of them out there. On full sized hangers it almost feels like cheating to slide them on.
As for the rope end, no matter you clipping technique its brilliant, the shape of the basket makes those risky clips where you try to finesse the rope in feel solid. all that performance matched to a thick dogbone which although excellent for French Aid, really excels at stopping the draw from twisting, a consistent head ache with thin Dynex or other thin dogbones. which even in the somewhat short 12CM length still twist consistently at that dicey run out clip.
As for Trad, A draw is a draw, but these are much larger and heavier than the Camp Nano23, BD OZ, Wild Country Astro, or DMM Phantom draws, all of which offer light weight for the ounce saving trad climber.
However for sport, you can't do better than the LiveWire.

Black Diamonds deluxe sport climbing draw, the lightweight LiveWire Quickdraw is geometrically optimized for clipping bolts with a keylock Dynotron carabiner on top and a rope-friendly LiveWire wiregate carabiner on the bottom. Both carabiners are hot-forged with the shapes and details needed for the demanding clips of modern sport climbing, and are equipped with a 12-cm long Vari-width dogbone quickdraw with the Straitjacket System.
The Black Diamond Livewire Quickdraw brings the latest technology to a classic style.
Black Diamond took its high-performance Dynotron and LiveWire carabiners, slapped a 12cm vari-width dogbone between them, and officially called it the LiveWire Quickdraw. Unofficially, we call it the smoothest clipping, most badass-looking draw we've seen in years. The wiregate biner's draw-friendly surface and Black Diamond's Straitjacket (a rubberized dogbone insert that holds the biner in place) keep everything properly oriented and ready to clip when your forearms are gassed, and the hooded nose protects the wire gate opening when you pitch off at the crux.
