The one-piece black plastic case is its downfall.

The one-piece black plastic case is its downfall. The hinge is not a hinge, just a place where the plastic bends. This means it does not hold a mirror angle and being opaque, the base can't be used on a map very well.
O.K. for a spare though, or for casual use.
