User Review: Cabela's Windmill Classic Stormproof Lighter
Price Paid: $49
I recently purchased the Cabela's-branded version of the Windmill Stormproof Lighter, largely because I was tired of being envious of one of these a buddy owns. Though my mundane Bic was usually flicked without too much difficulty, in a wind of any note, or when needing to click a flame into existence now, reliably, his clearly was the hands-down winner.
This little gizmo, made in Japan, gives every appearance and feel of high-quality construction, and it does indeed light without difficulty; had the opportunity to test it in cold, windy, wet conditions, and it performed flawlessly. Bright orange polycarbonate shell is tough, and hard to lose. Easily filled with butane from widely available canister. Small window allows verification/checking of filled volume. Modestly adjustable flame. Also available (at least thru Cabela's) in black.
The only reason it didn't get five stars is the fact that it seems slightly small to my hand, and I'm not a big man (5'8", 75 kg). For a big guy, it could seem a mite--literally.
