Not a bad backpack, it has some great features. The pack is very very comfortable. Unlike some packs that have side pockets that are useless when the the pack is full the Chinkapin seems to be designed with the idea that the side pockets won't compress to a point of uselessness. That's actually a really nice feature. The two external side pockets are a stretchy mesh material thats strong enough to hold a couple water bottles in place. It has two inside mesh pockets on the back (in a separate compartment from the main pack). These are pretty nice but not that strong. I put some heavy items in them (a small shovel) and they fell out. This wasn't a problem since the pockets are inside a zippered pouch.

The sleeping bag pouch is the only zipper that does not have a big grasp ring. The rings are nice since you could open the zippers with gloves. The pack adjusts pretty easy too.

On the downside the little manual that came with the backpack is nearly useless. They do a good job describing the obvious but do little to explain some of the less than self explanatory features of the pack. The sleeping bag compartment could be a little bigger. I have a Coleman cold weather sleeping bag and I have a hard time getting it in.

The pack advertises a kangaroo pouch on the waist belt that is supposed to hold a map. This is a good idea but its really hard to get anything into the pouch when wearing the pack.
