Summary

The Bugaboo is a warm, well made jacket with a few fit issues.

Pros

  • well made
  • warm
  • water resistant/breathable

Cons

  • sleeves too long
  • hood too big

Over all, I would say the Bugaboo is a good jacket. There are a few fit issues, but I think they have to do more with the garments intended use and not what I'm using it for. The sleeves extend over my hands, but they come to the appropriate length when I lift my arms to chest level (when holding ski poles?). They also have velcro adjustable cuffs so I can get them to stay above my hands.

The fleece liner is very well made and very warm. I have worn it by itself on a number of occasions and have not been cold. It is also effective against moderate wind.

The waterproofing of the shell seems to work, although I can't say how it would do in driving rain. I have had it in moderate drizzle/rain and it has not soaked through. It is easy to zip the liner in and out, have not had any problems with this function.

The hood is too big, had to fold the leading edge back to be able to see. Again I think it may be cut to fit a ski helmet/beanie underneath, since I am not using it for skiing, this is a problem for me. All the zippers are of good quality with zipper pulls that accomodate gloved hands. the ski goggle pocket is a nice touch, although maybe a little small for it's intended use. I intend to put my gps in it.

It seems to be holding up well, all the stitching is well done. Overall a good jacket for the money.
