This review is for the shell. This is a well thought out and versatile jacket with plenty of features, my favorite of which is the hood. The hood is very adjustable and will not restrict peripheral vision.

The shell works as advertised for keeping out wind and rain. The material is not as rigid as Gore-Tex, but works just as well, if not better as far as waterproof and breathability go.

My only complaint is the waterproof zippers. They do not operate as smoothly as one would hope, but they are indeed waterproof. Jay Leno must have written the previous review, because my chin fit inside the jacket just fine when fully zipped.

Fabric: Columbia Omni-Tec
Price Paid: $70 for shell @ columbia outlet

A value, but when zipped to top the neck opening becomes too tight to cover the chin and mouth.

Price Paid: $180
