User Review: Columbia Men's Silver Ridge II Convertible Pant

Rating: rated 3 of 5 stars
Source: bought it new
Price Paid: $46

Summary

Well made convertible hiking pant. Wicks moisture great. Belt not the best construction.

Pros

  • Wicks away moisture
  • Quick drying
  • True fit

Cons

  • Belt flimsy

I purchased a pair of these at REI and have used them on several section hikes of the Appalachian. The size and fit were dead on. The pants wick moisture away pretty well and dry fairly quickly. I did several stream crossings and the pants were dry before I knew it.

Good for summer hikes as the material is light and breathes well. Would likely be much too light for late fall hikes in the Northeast. Although light material I fell pretty hard on some rocks and the pants did not rip or show any wear.  The zippers and pockets all seem well constructed and built to last.  I frequently shove maps, receipts and trash found on the trail into the pockets.

One complaint, the belt could be better constructed and tends to move around a bit.  It is little more than a backpack strap.
