Random House The Well-Fed Backpacker
Great cookbook for the backpacker! I wouldn't use the term 'glamping' to describe our backpacking outings, however we do put a great deal of thought into our meals while on the trail. I have other books that mainly discuss the use of a dehydrator, this book is different. June Fleming discusses backpackers needs from top to bottom: nutrition, packing, cooking, camp setup. Bay Street Publishing Freezer Bag Cooking Volume 1: Trail Food Made Simple
Simple backpacking food recipes — just add hot water! This way of camp cooking was new to me, having done little camping for years. Now I am gung-ho to give it a try after reading these simple recipes. I've taste-tested some and am eager to set up my meals for planned June camping/canoe trip! Did run into a few ingredients that are had to find...example: Lipton no longer makes tomato flavor cupa-soup. Also, some of the recipes include off-the-shelf items that I would not use as they contain MSG. Full review
Falcon Guides Cooking in the Outdoors
Not so much a recipe book but rather a methods and skills focus. I have a number of outdoors oriented cooking guides. Some are mostly recipe books while some are more general and skill oriented. This book is very much skill oriented and geared towards how to dehydrate your own trail foods and how to find and utilize grocery store supplies suitable for backcountry use.
