The mega-pack by Deuter designed for National Outdoor…
Rating: ![]()
Design: top loading internal frame
Size: 120 liters
Number of Pockets: 2
Max. Load Carried: 75-80 lbs.
Height of Owner: 5'6"
Price Paid: $300
The mega-pack by Deuter designed for National Outdoor Leadership Schools. This is the new/next generation NOLS pack and it sucks. One size fits all, with a ladder adjustment system. I'm a smaller framed guy (5'6" 150 lbs with broad shoulders) and it tore my shoulders to pieces. It did the same for a 6'1" 220lbs friend of mine.
The thing is huge- 120 liters fully extended- but construction is weak- seams are not sewn well, and the hip belt buckles POP OFF when you flex your abdominal muscles (on sketchy boulder/scree hoping it happened= very very unsafe situation).
If you're headed on a NOLS course, and they offer you an older Dana Astraplane or Lowe Alpine pack- take one of those! NOLS made a huge mistake when they bought this German piece of $#!t.
