Rating: rated 5 of 5 stars
Design: rucksack
Size: 40L - 2500 cuin
Number of Pockets: 6
Max. Load Carried: 25 lbs
Height of Owner: 6'2"
Price Paid: $109

The Futura Zero 40 has been working very well for me. I carry a good amount of gear for landscape photography and the weight adds up. 8 lbs tripod, ~8 lbs of camera gear, 4 lbs of water, food, first aid and rain gear and usually some fly fishing gear. It adds up quickly. The pack is carrying it very well. The hips and lumbar carry the load and the shoulder straps keep everything stable. The aircomfort suspension works very well to keep your back temperature down. The difference from my old 40L pack is significant.

The pack is stripped down at about 3lbs. It has a large front mesh stash pocket, two mesh side pockets, two zipper pockets in the lid and a main top load compartment with hydration sleeve. There are side compression straps and the lid is held down by a pair of vertical straps.

Deuter-a pack pioneer and innovator-demonstrates its usual great craftsmanship in the top-loading Futura Zero 40 daypack, built in a light design! To cut weight, pack is made with light but strong and abrasion-resistant micro-rip/ripstop nylon and 210- and 420-denier nylons. Deuter patented Aircomfort suspension allows warm air to escape and fresh air to circulate between pack and wearer's back. Suspension consists of a spring steel frame that is flexible and light, and tensioned to support the suspended mesh; the result is ample ventilation. Contoured, padded shoulder straps are lined with MeshTex fabric for breathability; stabilizer straps properly position pack. Soft hip pads and hipbelt wrap body, stabilizing and controlling lateral movements of pack on the go; hipbelt features a valuables pocket. Main compartment has plenty of room for a full day hike, on or off the trail. Front stash pocket and side mesh pockets store often-accessed gear such as water bottles, headlamp, first-aid kit, sunscreen and multi-tool. Top lid pocket can hold your map, compass, GPS, spare batteries or other small equipment items. Hydration-compatible design features reservoir pocket and drink tube exit port for on-the-go hydration (reservoir sold separately). Side compression straps let you cinch down loads for jostle-free carrying. Simple, lightweight twin tool loops let you quickly stash trekking poles and ice axes. Deuter recommends a carrying capacity of 30 lbs. Closeout.
