I like simple and these are simple. They work, they are light.

Pros

  • Do exactly what is needed in a back country ski binding.
  • Light.

Cons

  • In a blizzard with wind the sockets that the pins go in the ski boot can get iced up.

BC skiing is a great sport especially when your equipment works and these never failed me over a 3 year time span.  Nothing complex, they simply work well. In a blizzard the sockets in the my boot could ice up and then the nose of the boot would come out. Getting the ice out is not easy. But really only happened one time, in a blizzard with 30 - 40 MPH winds. This is not a fault of the binding, it is a universal problem with these types of BC ski bindings, the tiny socket that the pins go in can get filled with water or snow which turns to ice and then the pins don't go in all the way.

Background

3-4 years of BC skiing mostly around Carson Pass area of Sierra Nevada.
