Enertia trail foods makes good macaroni products. Add tuna if you want more calories or protein.

Pros

  • Easy, good twist on mac and cheese

Cons

  • You must let the macaroni sit long enough to be really good.

All the Enertia products have good macaroni. You must let the bag sit long enough for the macaroni to get good and plump though. This one is like a spicy mac and cheese.

I have added a tuna packet sometimes for extra protein, but it is pretty good the way it comes. There will be some water in the bottom of the macaroni and that is what makes the cheese sauce when you add the powdered cheese and stir it up.

We like all the Enertia macaroni products although if you are in a wind, the cheese and/or seasoning packets maybe a little challenging to open and get into the bag without blowing  in your eyes. Also there are a lot of little pieces of trash when you have the multiple packets and in a wind they can get away from you easily. Sometimes there are several steps like pour the water in the macaroni and let it sit so many minutes, then add the cheese packet stir and let it sit a little longer, etc. The regular mac and cheese also has bacon bits which are pretty good, too.

Although this is for one person, my husband and I usually split it. Then if we are still hungry, we make or eat something else like a cup of soup or some jerky.
