Eureka! Summit XT Extreme

rated 2.0 of 5 stars

The Summit XT Extreme has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best four-season tents for 2024.

I bought this tent to go backpacking in Sequoia National Park during late November. When I pitched the tent for the first time, I saw the floor rising on the middle of the tent due to the tension from the middle pole. This also created little holes where the seams were. Since the tent was built for 2-3 people, it little too big to handle.

Also the all in one stuff sack for the tent didn't work too well.

On the tent itself, there were these little metal recievers for the tent poles, instead of little holes. These little holes worried me because it could cause a hole in the tent when packing. The design of the tent also raised some questions because there were only 3 poles instead of the usual 4 for expedition tents. The mesh sleeves didn't work with me either. There for, I am now going to look into spending 100 bucks more for a north face mountain 24, mountain hardware trango 2, or sierra design tiros .
