Here's what other sites are saying:

From Backcountry.com:
"Garmin's eTrex Vista GPS combines a basemap of North and South America with a barometric altimeter, electronic compass and 24MB of customizable map memory. Even when you're standing still, you can find your bearing using the electronic compass, and that comes in handy when you can't see any landmarks. The altimeter determines your precise altitude, and can be used in a pinch as a barometer to detect incoming fronts. The Vista uses WAAS correction data to give accurate location coordinates down to 3 meters on the internal basemap, as well as the hundreds of downloadable maps available on Garmin's MapSource site."

From Altrec Outdoors:
"Ideal for climbing and trekking, the compact Garmin eTrex Vista features a data basemap of North and South America along with an electronic compass and a barometric altimeter. A 24 megabyte internal memory capacity accepts downloaded mapping data from Garmin's MapSource CD ROMs."

From GearX.com:
"The eTrex Vista combines the popular features of the eTrex Summit with a full basemap of the Americas, the Atlantic or the Pacific, a barometric altimeter, electronic compass and 24 megabytes (MB) of internal memory for extra data storage."

From Teton Village Sports:
"It's the ultimate navigational tool. eTrex Vista has enough map detail to help you get out of town, an electronic compass to keep you on course, and a barometric altimeter to record the details of your trek. The Vista is designed to provide precise GPS positioning using WAAS. It also boasts an internal memory of 24 MB (Vista) and comes with a PC cable to download maps for greater detail. The VistaCX comes with a PC/USB Interface cable and 64MB microSD card, has the option for expanable memory, and a port for the microSD card. That's a ton of utility in a unit weighing a mere 5.3 oz (VistaCX 5.6 oz)!"

"Quite possibly the best GPSr I have ever used. I am military and an active geocacher, as well as a Scout Master. I have used mine for all purposes without fail. The one I am using now has been with me for 6+ years. The buttons are worn a bit, and the case is scratched from HEAVY use but still working."

"I have used this device for years and would be happy to purchase another if I ever needed to replace it. I've used it to map trails and build maps for the BLM where I particpate as a volunteer, teach land navigation techniques, find my way in a strange city and most recently, record a twelve-day hike covering 80 miles and 15,000 vertical feet at Philmont in North Eastern New Mexico."

"This is a good GPS unit, small, lightweight. It is very easy to use and the screen is detailed. I love the ability to load maps using Garmin's Mapsource and Topo maps.

The only downside is the reception. Most of my hiking is above tree line, where the unit functions flawlessly."
