Newbie, I'm completely new to the GPS arena. So I looked at several before I finally landed on the Garmin brand because it offered everything we could possibly need. I purchased the 530Hcx for my husband and the 520Hcx for myself. He's the stronger/faster hiker, runner, biker etc. so he would be ahead almost all of the time on trails and would keep me abreast of changes. The units were easy for me to set up, which says a lot. I liked the radio feature from the get go, weather updates (which here in Colorado is a must have for hikes!). Now I just need to keep up!
