I bought these boots based upon a gear review in Backpacker. These are pretty rough boots meant to take some abuse. The Kevlar/Cordura construction makes them highly abrasion and puncture resistant. The sole is a Vibram. It looks like the Vibram Clusaz sole, but is not crampon compatible.

I bought these boots because I have always worn heavy crampon-compatible mountain boots and wanted a light, fast pair of boots for summer. The toe-box is roomy, they feel good after a few sessions, and they are indeed light. The sole does surprisingly well for mild rock climbing and bouldering - the rubber sticks well. In addition, there is a generous sticky rubber rand that cups the toe box area. These are good scrambling boots.
