Garmont Sticky Dragon
I've owned at least 5 pair of Garmont approach shoes.
Use: class 4 climbs
Break-in Period: fast
I've owned at least 5 pair of Garmont approach shoes. They usually fit me perfectly. These are the exception.
They are very boxy in the toe and cannot be laced down tight enough to give an agile feel. Also, the tongue has far too much padding and does not lend to a sensitive feel. Feels far more like a running shoe than an approach shoe. Laces are too long and do not stay tied without a double knot.
Fine for walking around town but nothing technical. I wish they still made their Sticky Spins.
Here's what other sites are saying:
The Sticky Dragon is the newest shoe in Garmont's Sticky line of approach shoes. Sticky Dragon is a hybrid between an approach shoe and a trail runner. A dual durometer midsole allows for cushioning in the rear foot, while the forefoot has been stiffened for climbing.
About as vicious as a scaled fire-breather, Garmont's Sticky Dragon approach shoe demonstrates incredible tenacity on hikes and scrambles with a supportive, snug-fitting upper, stiff shank, and firm toes for sensitivity. Vibram Crossover outsoles are super-sticky for stability and a rubber toe bumper protects your toes.

An all-terrain favorite, the Garmont Sticky Dragon approach shoe features a lace-to-toe closure, a high grip sticky sole structure, and rear foot midsole protection for climbing performance.
The newest member of the Garmont approach series, the Garmont Sticky Dragon for Men is the ideal blend between a technical approach shoe and a trail running shoe. Built with a dual durometer midsole, the Sticky Dragon provides cushioning in the rear foot, great for trail running, and a firmer forefoot, better for climbing and scrambling. A Vibram(R) CrossOver Outsole provides traction when the trail gets tricky and is ideal for easy bouldering, making the Sticky Dragon the one shoe you need for your summer road trip, climbing trip, or urban exploration.
