Garmont Yukon

rated 5 of 5 stars

The Yukon has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best backpacking boots for 2024.

I bought them for solid ankle support 14 years ago and they never let me down, bulletproof.

The corollary of them being supportive is that they are very heavy for hiking boots, I'm used to heavy work boots so thought nothing of it. But then I picked up someone else's size elevens and couldn't believe the difference. Now I have two pairs of boots and save the Garmonts for scree slopes and heavy duty territory.

First contact and like it appearence more than other things cause it is old traditional look mountaineering boot. Good supportive full grain leather and highly waterproofing if treated w/ liquid NIKWAX. Roomy in toe box. I have to wear three intermediate thickness hiking socks to get snug of my feet. Still need more time to break it down to comfort my feet. Highly recommended to anyone need heavy backpacking and light mountaineering to Nepal.
