Athletes have been known to sweat anywhere between 0.8 and 1.4 liters per hour. The exertion and physical activity stresses the body out, ultimately building strength and endurance. But it's very easy to become dehydrated if you're not careful to replenish the fluids that you lose during each activity. Gnarly Nutrition's Hydrate mix is a great solution.

The Gnarly Nutrition Hydrate Mix can be purchased in either 5- or 40-serving packages. I tested out the 40-serving bag, which comes with a measuring scoop and a preserver that reduces moisture once the package has been opened. 

Gnarly Nutrition Hydrate Flavor

I found the orange pineapple flavor to be perfect. While many hydration mixes are bubbly, weak, or way too sugary, the Hydrate mix was just sweet enough. It almost seemed too good to be true! Upon further research, I learned that this mixture has just 4 grams of added sugars. This gives it an agreeable flavor without making you feel like it's being overdone. 

Servings Included

As an endurance athlete, I usually go through hydration mixes extremely fast. But it's been a month since I received this mixture, and I still have more than half of it left. So, instead of running to the store once a week to pick up more Propel, I can wait a little longer with a package like this. 

I found that two scoops of this mixture was the perfect amount to fill up my Nalgene bottle. And I wasn't disappointed in the simplicity of the ingredient label. But sugar was the first ingredient.

As a powder solution, this product is relatively lightweight. This makes it a great pick for backpacking or climbing trips. 

Gnarly Nutrition Hydrate Cost

The only thing I didn't LOVE about this mixture is that it's a little bit on the costly side of the spectrum. Each 40-serving bag of this solution costs nearly $30. While it's not the most expensive product on the market, it is possible to find mixes that cost less. But they tend to be made with less wholesome ingredients or a bunch of added sugar. 

Gnarly Nutrition Hydrate Testing

I could tell as soon as I took my first sip of this solution that I wouldn't have a hard time replenishing my electrolytes. After a few days of hiking near Mount Whitney with the Hydrate mix, I didn't feel depleted. Instead, I was energetic and strong. 

Background

I've tested dozens of different electrolyte solutions throughout the years. From Gatorade to Gnarly Nutrition, I'm always looking for new, cleaner options.
