The edges have a slight catenary cut that helps keep the whole thing taut. "I bought this tarp because it was the only 8x10 tarp available in Damascus, VA, when I walked through on my AT thru hike. I hated how much it cost. But it has proved its worth over and over again. I have slept under this thing in all conditions, and set it up in a million different configurations."
