Sierra Designs Elite Rain Chaps

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Simple, lightweight, packable, and good ventilation. I have yet to find any real negative to the Elite Rain Chaps (5 oz.). They are lightweight, without zippers or pockets, and the design allows for excellent air flow around the upper legs, and crotch. Its design also gives you quick access to pants pockets. If you are looking for lightweight rain wear that works hard at keeping you dry inside and out, check these out. Sierra Designs Elite Chaps. The Chaps are intended to be part of a system &… Full review

Cabela's Dry-Plus MXP Pants

rated 4 of 5 stars The Cabela's Dry-Plus MXP pants are lightweight, waterproof, and breathable, and work equally well as rain pants or an outer shell for snow sports. The two pockets are closed with waterproof zippers that really are waterproof. Full-length side zippers allow for easy donning over boots and ventilation. I've had these Cabela's Dry-Plus MXP pants for about a year now, and I just love them for snowshoeing. They stop the wind like you wouldn't believe, breathe so well that even with just silkweight polypro… Full review

Mountain Hardwear Men's Plasmic Pant

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Lightweight hard shell pants with excellent breathability in a variety of conditions. In all the years I've been exploring in the outdoors, I've never owned a pair of real rain pants. I have some fine softshell pants and wind pants, but never really owned a hardshell. With a thru-hike of the Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier on the horizon next summer, I knew it was time to start looking. I'm a big fan of eVent waterproof-breathable fabrics, and my REI eVent jacket is fantastic. Mountain Hardwear… Full review

Black Diamond Dawn Patrol Hybrid Bib

rated 5 of 5 stars The only large style soft shell bibs, these are a great for all aerobic winter activities. The Dawn Patrol bibs are a really great option for a lot of activities. They fit pretty tight around the legs, similar to most soft shells like the Gamma MX or the Patagonia Knifeblades or Adze. It has minor adjustments on the hem, but not huge. This means that you can't No gaiter or anything. They can also be adjusted by the shoulder suspenders. It's not much of a huge change though. Due to descent stretch… Full review

Marmot Women's PreCip Full Zip Pant

rated 5 of 5 stars I own these and love them. They do the job well of keeping the rain out. I'm not over the top hard on any of my gear, but I've sat on everything from mud to rocks and not one problem with these pants. It's kind of odd how you cool down so quickly after you put these on. No sticking to you when you're sweaty. I do think they run small in size. I'm 5'2" and a size 8 and had to get a large. Which was shocking considering I can wear kids clothes. I'm short so they are a little long, but that's nothing… Full review

Columbia Rain Tech Omni Heat Pants

rated 4 of 5 stars Live in WA where we get a lot of bad weather. Bought to go with my jacket of the same brand and was extremely impressed with the performance. Priced great, very functional, no frills. Lets start with the only con I could come up with. I put this under the cons because for some people this is a must. Especially when climbing a mountain where crampons are needed, would require too much time and effort to put on and take off. But this is one of the features I didn't want because of the wet weather… Full review

Log House Designs Gore-Tex Pant

rated 5 of 5 stars The best lightweight, affordable, tough 3-layer pants ever. Buy one size up instead of complaining about moving-fit problems like a city slicker. I had two pairs of these over years and made snow with both of them (a brutal job on equipment). Neither of them ever leaked and any clown who ever says their products leak is without any experience. These were tough and comfortable to wear all the time like any good 3-layer Gore tex but with a tough taslan shell which is decent in brush and the tighter… Full review

Norrona Men's Falketind Gore-Tex Pro Shell Pant

rated 5 of 5 stars The Norrona Gore-Tex Pro Shell Pant is super light and has a perfect cut. The Norrona Gore-Tex Pro Shell Pant is super light and has a perfect cut. It fit's all around the legs and is not too tight. It's not the best for skiing, but the best for all kind of climbing. It allows a huge opportunity in movement, because of the great fit and stretch in the knees. The material feel ultra durable. There are reinforcements on the inner legs and knees. It's not krepotec, but this pant is ultra light though. Full review
