I too am having an awful time getting mine to stay…

Rating: rated 1 of 5 stars
Source: bought it new
Price Paid: Far too much

Summary

I too am having an awful time getting mine to stay up. Even the smallest breeze seems to collapse the darn thing. I'm going to try to put some extra ropes from the top corners to the ground with stakes to see if that'll help. What a nightmare so far.

Pros

  • Don't know, as I can't get it to stay up long enough.

Cons

  • Collapses at the slightest wind.

So far I'm not very happy with this rig. It's ruined our weekend camping trip because it wouldn't stay up in any wind, and now that I've tried at home it still isn't working when a breeze comes up.

Getting pretty fed up with the whole mess, but still trying to find a way to make it stand up. Will be trying to attach reinforcement ropes from the top of the poles to pegs in the ground.

Rating: rated 1 of 5 stars
Design: 3 Room Dome with Screen 16'x13'
Sleeps: 6+
Ease of Setup: Moderate
Price Paid: $149.99

DO NOT buy this tent. Despite seam sealing and waterproofing this tent it leaked, a lot!! Moderate winds will collapse the rear side. One metal sleeve cracked the first time I set it up and the floor is impossible to smooth out. The zippers snag easily under the best conditions and once they collect dirt become a real pain.

I will never purchase a Hillary tent again, poor workmanship all the way around, bought it on sale, what a waste of money. Have had Coleman and a cheap Escort tent from Canadian Tire. Both were superior to this disappointing waste of material. May I add the service from Sears (purchased online) was slow and mediocre even the box arrived damaged.

Bottom line, if you are bringing your ducks camping with you they will love this Hillary tent but bring a Coleman for yourself.

This tent is awesome for a family. I have 2 children under the age of 3 and it makes it very easy and comfortable to go camping.
