Rating: rated 4 of 5 stars
Fabric: merino wool
Price Paid: can't remember -- on sale

The synthetics wick better, I have to admit (in comparable synthetics, I usually use EMS bergelene or LL Bean PowerDry long sleeve zip necks), and dry quicker. But wool tops impart a feeling of warmth that I never feel with synthetic tops, a real plus in stop-and-go activity in cold weather (or even in just "go" activity in really cold weather). This is a marvelous top as a baselayer, or as a second layer on top of a thin baselayer. Plus, unlike most synthetics, it does not become stinky.
