The solution most shoe companies offer to "off-road" pursuits is the same car manufactures use. Bigger, more robust and more durable and hence inefficient. All of the Inov8 shoes are built upon the idea that the foot should be allowed to do what it does and it should be about efficiency. Sure these shoes are not for someone who is just hitting the trails, but for anyone who is looking for a high performance oriented trail shoe for racing or training this is it.
Does incredibly well in most any trail condition. Once you run a muddy trail with these you will never want to run in an SUV like trail shoe again. They do well on hardpack as well.
Not a lot of support, but the shoes' low profile keeps the foot feeling like it is always on a balance. A pleasure to run down hill with as well.
Use: trail and mountain running
Break-in Period: a couple days
Weight: 11 or so ounces

I love these shoes and that's a rare thing. These sneakers are lightweight and have excellent tread that doesn't wear down despite the harshest beating on rock.
They fit like a glove and over good stability and a lower heel (I was skeptical at first) that allows faster decents.
The Innov8 line resists water from entering the shoe and I have stepped in the bog more than once and not ended up with wet feet, much to my surprise.
I would recommend these shoes over any brand for those looking to actually run mountains or just go for a romp in the woods.
The only slight drawback is a narrow heel surface, which might be difficult for those whose ankles aren't accustomed to unstable terrain.
If you have done a lot of trail running you should be fine though and the benefits far outmatch any concerns
Buy them ... you won't regret it.

My first pair of Flyrocs were given to me by "Trail Dog" in the middle of his world record 47-day hike of the Appalachian Trail. He did it with Flyrocs on his feet. Inov8 had sent him a new pair and he gave me his old pair. I promised myself I would buy my own next time I went for a hike, and have just ordered my second pair. I have tried other "trail runners" but cannot find a shoe that is this light, stable, fast drying (after fording a stream I simply put on dry socks and keep hiking) and offer protection from sharp stones on the trail. Simply put, this shoe is the best on the market at any price.

Great tread design. The shoe has good bite on sloppy trails. Excellent shoe weight. If high cut shoes bother your ankles, you may want to pass on these shoes.
