Karrimor Cougar 70-95L

rated 5.0 of 5 stars

The Cougar 70-95L has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best weekend packs for 2024.

Before heading out on a 6+ month backpacking trip around Asia I decided to replace my old 45L external frame backpack with something a little more spacious. I did my rounds to various websites and outdoor equipment dealers and in the end decided on Karrimor.

First, the way that the pack distributes weight evenly and correctly is fantastic. I'm carrying a 25+kg load and in the last 3 months have never had any soreness or pain. Of course the load is heavy but because the way the pack works once you get it on your back (and make sure not to fall over) everything is okay.

Second, the amount of customization you can do with the straps is amazing. I have a short torso which up to this point has been difficult to deal with but that was no problem with this pack.

Third, this pack breathes well. A lot of packs out there focus on padding, which to be honest might feel good at first but it gets heavy, smothers, and makes you sweat. The Karrimor pack keeps everything to a minimum and focuses on support which in the end leads to your comfort.

I only had one issue with my pack, a manufacturers defect, but it was replaced after a short dialog with a distributor here in Asia.

Overall I would seriously consider Karrimor packs if you are setting out on any kind of trip that requires you to lug something around on your back.
