Cons
- too big for most bottle pockets
- too big for car cup holder
If, after shelter, water is the most important thing for sustaining life, than I want my water container to be unbreakable. The Klean Kanteens are pretty much unbreakable. For this reason we like to carry the standard water reservoir, perhaps only filled with 35-70 ounces of water, then we take Klean Kanteens for back up. Two is one and 1 is none, right?
Every major filter that we have tried screws perfectly to the mouth of the Wide Mouth Klean Kanteen 64oz. This makes for less hassle when pumping water from an awkward position, which is to say, every position one is in while pumping water through a filter.
The ability to hang the Kanteen over the fire using a coat hanger or a piece of wire, allowing us to boil 64 ounces of water at once, without using any of our precious fuel, is amazing. Just imagine making a huge pot of pine needle tea for everybody at the shelter on a rainy night.
Now to risk redundancy: Our Klean Kanteens are among the very few items for "Adventure Use" that we allow ourselves to use on a daily basis! Hard shells, trekking socks, day packs, most headlamps, and all sporks are far too delicate and expensive to use on a daily basis. Not so with the Klean Kanteens. We beat these things up all day, literally everyday, and no worries, they keep on keeping awesome!
