Here's what other sites are saying:

One hundred years ago, Leon Leonwood ("L.L.") Bean returned from hunting in the Maine woods with cold, damp feet and a revolutionary idea. With just a few dollars and an innovative design, he invented the Maine Hunting Shoe. The melding of rubber bottom with leather upper combined with L.L.'s guarantee was a stunning breakthrough in hunting footwear. Today, these unique rubber-bottomed boots have become the unwavering symbol of L.L.Bean. We built our 100th Anniversary Maine Hunting Shoes to be as true to L.L.'s original design as possible. Each pair is made with special leather that is among the most durable you can buy and has minimal coloring for a beautiful light tan appearance. We are also reintroducing the red brick bottom found on early boots in our archives. The red sole is just as long-lasting as the newer tan sole, but stands in beautiful contrast to the brown rubber bottom and tan leather top. Since the leather upper is untreated, we've included a packet of Sno-Seal dressing, the original dressing used for treating leather boots to help them resist water and stains. We are including a pair of authentic rawhide laces, as well a pair of long-lasting taslan laces to give you a choice of how to outfit your boots. Forever an American icon, these boots are still made here in Maine, one pair at a time. 12" height. Please note We recommend that you apply Sno-Seal to the boot before wearing. This will help make the leather softer and more supple. Please allow proper break-in for the leather upper.
