I have a couple of Madden packs that I bought directly…

Rating: rated 5 of 5 stars
Design: inernal frame pack
Size: Alpine & expedition
Max. Load Carried: 70 lbs (once)
Height of Owner: 6'0"
Price Paid: $80

I have a couple of Madden packs that I bought directly from Madden in the late 1970's. One is the rucksack-sized Alpine, the other is a monster expedition sized pack.

They are both great, have stood up to years of hard use and poor care. Madden stuff tended to be bombproof, durable, simple, and maybe a little heavy -- just right for hard use.

Madden also made what has always seemed to me to be the best-designed Gore-tex mountain parka ever made. The 70's era Gore-tex is definitely not up to modern standards, but the parka design and workmanship are unbeatable.
