Mammut Pulse Barryvox
Source: bought it new
- One hand to turn on. Two hands to turn off.
Have carried mine for 3 years. Replaced batteries every year though they still show 85%. Good range when tested on buried beacons. I like the one hand to turn on, two hands to turn off feature. Fits in a pocket well. Has adequate leash.

The revolutionary PULSE Barryvox avalanche beacon is easy, fast, effective, and displays vital data (movement, pulse, and respiration). Save time, save lives.
The high-performance Mammut Pulse Barryvox avalanche transceiver features three antennas and it combines digital and analog modes for fast and effective searching for any number of victims. Digital three-antenna design allows precise searching, even in deep-burial and close-proximity searches; locates burials within a 60m range in digital and 95m in analog. Features two user profiles that you can choose from: basic and advanced. Basic profile operates in digital mode and provides an overview of the number of victims; device automatically searches for the strongest signal (no manual selection possible). Advanced profile operates in digital and analog mode and allows manual scrolling of the list of victims; you can select a victim to search for. Advanced profile also lets you search in full analog mode to enhance range, however, digital mode better distinguishes multiple signals to speed searching for multiple vicitms. In multiple burial scenarios, use the side button to mark rescued victims to mask their transceiver signals so you can more easily search for other victims. Backlit display with 360deg real-time direction indicator quickly leads user to victim. 3D motion sensors receive and record victim's vital heart rate data, letting you quickly perform the triage required to maximize rescue efforts. Waterproof, shock-resistant case features nonslip rubber buttons and grips for easy operation with gloves. Adjustable bungee lanyard with clip secures around wrist or to jacket during a busy search to prevent inadvertent loss. Operates on three AAA alkaline batteries (included) for approximately 200 hrs. of transmission time or 15 hrs. of receiving time. Mammut Pulse Barryvox avalanche transceiver is compatible with all transceivers operating on the 457 kHz frequency. Includes the firmware 4.
The very compact, impact-resistant Pulse Barryvox Avalanche Beacon packs a punch with serious efficiency and high-tech function for a day of backcountry fun and peace of mind when traveling in avalanche-prone terrain. This ultra-capable device combines analog and digital with three antennas for massive range in a search. The fully graphic LCD display shows you all you need to know. In the event of a multiple burial, it shows victims and marks them or unmarks them as found. In Basic profile the device always searches for the strongest signal. In the Advanced profile, it searches based on distance and survivability criteria. Movement detectors analyze and transmit vital data from victims. When all victims have been detected, this beacon automatically switches to transmit mode. Also, it switches if the rescuer if buried in a secondary slide. Use the W-:Link to configure or update on a scalable software platform. This enables simple fleet management. Clear user navigation is intuitive for ease of use. The device can test your group and automatically tests yourself before heading out. There's a headphone connection, too, if you prefer to use that to check audio indicators. Heck, this device even speaks eight different languages.
