Rating: ![]()
Fabric: Gore-Tex XCR
Price Paid: $350
I bought the Cold Steel a couple of years ago. Absolutely the best hard shell jacket I've ever had! It's about bomb-proof and also feels like it (therefore not the lightest one on the market), which makes it the perfect choice for any use excluding the Fast&Light adventures.
I've been using the Cold Steel in a variety of conditions from extended winter backcountry ski/snowshoeing tours in Northern Finland to alpine skiing at Pyrenees. Never had anything to complain about.
All the details are thought carefully. The pockets will take whatever you want to have with you. The hood fits easily with a helmet, and the collar is high enough so that the wind won't reach your neck no matter how fast you are coming down the piste. Huge armpit ventilations and everything imaginable in a nice package ;)
