The pants are cool (temperature wise at least) and truly stretchy. I use them for climbing all the time. Mine are pretty baggy though, that might be since I had to take em with a long inseam cuz I’m 6.4. I would advise taking em in a darker color than beige. (It gets dirty quick!)

Even though the tissue looks flimsy, I’ve never made a tear in em. I try to be careful but eventually I think they’ll be destroyed by bushwacking from one crag to another in the dense mixed continental forest up where I live.

All in all, I think they're a great pair of pants. Best if you live in the desert where it’s hot, dusty and dry. For colder climate zone or abrasive hiking like the Northeast, best to find some kind of sturdier/hotter pants.

Part of Marmot's Tommy Caldwell Signature Series, the Estes Pant may not compel you to free climb El Capitan, but the effortless stretch and moisture-wicking waistband are sure to lift your spirits, if not your strength. The durable nylon stretch fabric dries quickly, while being soft and lightweight enough to wear through the airport on your way to your next big climb.

The Estes Pant by Marmot is a result of picking world class climber Tommy Caldwell's brain for a pant that can go on big walls, climb into offwidths and scramble up long crack pitches. The Estes is made to be super stretchy allowing you to have total freedom of movement which is important when highstepping on a pebble to escape the 30 foot whipper, and a comfort wicking waistband that keeps you from chafing when spending all day in a harness. Quick drying and incredibly durable. If you are a climber, you have to get a pair of these pants. Seriously.
