Great lightweight pants -- very suited to hiking. Made from nylon and so they give protection from wind and also are quick-drying when wet. Large pockets with snaps enable you to stash your maps and phone safely yet give you the ability for quick and easy access.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Quick drying
  • Very comfortable to wear
  • Stylish

Cons

  • Plastic belt clip can come loose

Purchased at Mountain Equipment Coop (MEC).

I bought a second pair of these pants for my hiking activities in 2013.  I have an older pair that I purchased over a year ago in another color.  I simply wanted a second pair as backup when I got dirty from my hikes in mud and poor weather.

These pants are all that I need for my hiking activities.  I can slip them over a pair of long johns for winter hiking and feel toasty warm.  They are lightweight and airy when hiking in summer.   When wet from rain, they dry out very quickly.

The large pant pockets on the front legs are great for stashing maps and my iPhone and after a year of use, the snaps are still as good as the day I bought the pants.

The material is very light yet hard wearing - in so much that I often park my butt on rocks of various shapes/sizes/roughness when hiking -- so far I have not experienced any rips/tears/abrasions in the material.

I bought a grey pair a year ago -- my second pair are the black pants.  Black shows the dirt less.

ISSUES - small ones:

The only issue I've had has been with the plastic belt clip.  I have experienced it unhooking itself or slipping loose when carrying a heavy and large pack.

ENHANCEMENTS

If I were to be picky, adding zips so that you can turn these pants into shorts would be nice.  Though these pants are fine for hiking in hot weather, sometimes it is just better to be in shorts rather than long pants.
