Being Merrell, the footwear giant, I was a bit skeptical as to whether this jacket would hold to the test of even the city hikers. But truth be told this is by far one of the warmest jackets I have in my collection. Merrell has done something right for once.
I use this mainly for walking my dog or a quick hike on some local trails, nothing to strenuous. So far I have been quite warm in the 20's with just a t-shirt on under it. Wind has not effect, due to the wool shell and the nice liner keeps me warm and toasty.
For $200 bucks at retail, where others charge $250+ for wool, this is a great piece to have on those frigid morning walks.
