Montane Minimus Mountain Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars
photo: Montane Minimus Mountain Jacket waterproof jacket

Ultralight, waterproof, breathable shell. Great choice for most activities outside.

Pros

  • Light and packs small
  • Pertex isn't stiff and crinkly like other waterproofing material
  • Two hand pockets have been added

Cons

  • Expensive
  • No pitzips

This jacket is breathable, waterproof. It packs down very small for ultralight backpackers. I waited for the spring jackets and found that in the Minimus Mountain jacket, two hand pockets were added, an awesome surprise.

It has good coverage around and below the waist, and articulated arms can do whatever while the rest of the jacket stays in place. Really nice hood with a lot of adjustments, likely to accommodate a helmet.  Reflective strips for nighttime.

Cost me around $250.
