The Montrail CTC Mid XCR is a wonderful overall shoe that provides excellent support for steep rough trail and flat pavement. Great traction and ankle support, they fit my feet like a glove with no noticed hot spots or friction. (I am a size ten with a narrow heel and a wide toe box.) Keep up the outstanding work Montrail!

Use the Montrail Men's CTC Mid GTX Hiking Shoe to blur the lines between hiking and climbing. An AirMesh Gore-Tex liner bootie keeps the water out while still allowing your foot to breathe. Montrail gave the CTC Mid GTX Shoe a Gryptonite sole with Smearing lugs in the forefoot and hiking lugs in the heel, so you can get traction on solid rock and on the trail. A rubber toe bumper increases grip for wedging up chimneys or ascending super-steep slopes, and a TPU shank gives you unending, solid support underfoot.

Melding the key benefits of a trail running, climbing, and hiking shoe, the Montrail CTC Mid XCR shoes offer Gryptonite rubber for incredible traction and control on both wet and dry rock. Cool and flexible, the CTC is a unique, fast-moving approach shoe with over-the-ankle confidence and waterproof breathability. Leather upper with hydrophobic air-mesh (repels water). Gore-Tex XCR lining for ultimate waterproof breathability. IntegraFit shoe design offers superior arch support, a firm heel hold, and even pressure around the foot. Rubber rands around foot for protection while scrambling and hiking. Multidensity EVA midsole for shock absorption and support in all the right places. Braking-specific heel tread. Gryptonite nonmarking rubber outsole for extreme traction on rock. Looking for a low-cut trail version of this shoe? See Montrail's CTC Trail Shoes, item #210214322.

Broken clouds and intermittent showers are no longer excuses for canceling your scrambles up local peaks. Montrail's CTC Mid XCR lightweight hiking shoe has a waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex membrane to optimize weather protection on slick trails and steep rock. Like Montrail's fair-weather Ventana hiking shoe, the CTC Mid XCR features sticky rubber Gryptonite GT and GS smearing pads for optimal traction, but the CTC Mid XCR holds the control and stability elements to higher standards with a narrower toe box and a medium volume fit that holds your foot firmly for exceptional control on technical terrain. If you feel the need to scramble or do light climbs in running shoes, Montrail's CTC Mid XCR has a better fit with significantly more traction on smooth surfaces. Other running shoes tend to use a harder compound rubber that works best on asphalt pavement--but the Gryptonite GT and GS sticky rubber lugs are all about keeping your grip on natural rocks in rain and shine.
