Then hop on the road and join the other lads downtown for a refreshing stout. The Highlander Trail Shoes' tightly sculpted fit gives you control as you hop from grass onto the gravel road, and Montrail's built-in arch support keeps the bottoms of your feet feeling spry after a long run."

From US Outdoor Store:
"Description Of Montrail HighlanderThe name Montrail, for the last decade, has become synonymous with cutting-edge outdoor footwear. In 29 countries, Montrail shoes are worn by people who feel their feet deserve nothing less than the most technologically advanced products. For the fringe pursuit of rock climbing, Montrail learned how to integrate thermo-moldable foam into the pressure zones for a custom fit in a traditionally uncomfortable shoe genre. For hiking and ultrarunning, where users spend non-stop days on their feet, Montrail created the Integrafit last based on digital scans of thousands of different feet. For everyday comfort, Montrail created a uniquely contoured, thermo-moldable sandal. These innovations and a dedication to bringing the best performance to extreme and casual users alike have created a reputation for the best fitting, high-performance footwear on the planet.Features:GryptoniteAnimal:Fast mountain hiking Mountain running Trail racing fanat"

From EMS:
"With all due respect to Martha Stewart, this shoe is the ultimate control freak. With close-to-the-ground feel and gravity-defying weight, the highlander is like a racing flat for trails. Speed fanatics will love the stiff sole, and mud wrestlers will envy the aggressive Gryptonite tread, which shook off glop better than any other sole we tested. A close fit enhances control as well: Forefoot volume is low, and the heel pocket is slender."2 2006 Annual Outside Buyer's Guide. Ultralight, breathable mesh uppers wrap foot snugly for precise foot control. Hydrophobic (doesn't absorb water) mesh uppers with webbing supports allow for quick drainage of water and grit. Nylon lining helps you stay dry by absorbing and moving moisture away from the feet. Low-profile design combined with rounded heel and tight heel pocket make off-angle foot strikes secure. Single-density EVA midsoles cushion feet from the hardest rocks and trails. Toes and heels wrapped and protected by synthetic leather bumpers. Gryptonite nonmarking outsole combines an advanced lug design and sticky rubber, giving you powerful purchase on the roughest crags. Vegan (no animal-based materials).|"With all due respect to Martha Stewart, this shoe is the ultimate control freak. Reviewed by Chase Tunnell, Nov 27, 2006

"Had been running in Masai's and was skeptical of the switch because the Highlander looks more "beefed up". Rest assured that the Highlander is every bit as comfortable and I noticed a significant traction improvement over the Masai. It is definitely a step up in performance."
