Here's what other sites are saying:

From RockCreek:
"The Masai, by Montrail, is a nimble shoe designed for high mileage and warm temperatures. It is still our lightest and most breathable shoe, but now conforms better to a variety of foot types and provides excellent support. In addition to its proven success on tough trails the Masai has a very smooth and cushioned ride for roads. This gives it versatility as a multi-surface training shoe for road runners, as well as a racing shoe for ultrarunners. The Masai has a unique upper construction that creates a conforming and supportive fit. The upper actually has two independent layers: The outer layer is where the lacing eyelets, webbing bands, and midfoot support panels are attached. The inner layer is seam-free, attached only at the tongue, to provide a smooth and comfortable surface for your foot. The lacing options from the toe to the ankle allow the supple upper materials to conform exactly to the nuances of your feet, spreading the pressure evenly and comfortably. The toe box is wide and roomy, yet the upper can conform and support very narrow and low-volume feet."

"I have a love hate relationship with these shoes. After two pairs I can say that they do wear quickly. . . not the soles, but the mesh upper. Both pairs tore where the midsole and mesh meet.

On a positive note, these are some of the MOST comfortable shoes I have ever had."
