Although the Alcove 2 looks pretty much like any other tent, its design allows for a very generous front vestibule. The bonus of this is that you don't have to sleep with your wet packs and shoes, they all fit nicely in the vestibule.

The Alcove 2 has much more internal space than most other tents at comparable weight meaning you can fit your gear in the tent if you need to, even while sleeping 2 comfortably.

It also has the nice bonus of being able to sit up comfortably with more headroom than any other tent I looked at.

I was initially concerned about the amount of mesh on the tent, but during the downpours there was no sign of leakage through the Alcove's watertight fly.
The fly also has the nice bonus of being adjustable which apparently makes it respond better to snow and ice, although I haven't tested it in conditions this cold.

Set up is easy as is takedown and although it doesn't pack down quite as small as some other 2 person tents, it is still quite small and the extra space is well worth it. At 2.9kg it is still very light for its internal size and the unique Mountain Design pole system allows for a lightweight but remarkably strong tent.

All in all this is a fantastic tent, great internal space for the weight and holds up beautifully in the weather.
