I've used this jacket for a full year in the Eastern Aleutian Islands, and have found it to be excellent for most cold weather conditions, from light rain to fairly heavy snow or sleet, provided it's not too windy. This does not have the "windstopper" technology and a brisk wind will definitely go through it. It layers well with long underwear and a lightweight shell to provide protection in harsher conditions. The pit zips are a huge plus, as it's easy to get overheated with the 200 weight fleece.
