Nice, but not what I'd hoped.
I was looking for a super-warm hat for really cold conditions. The problem with this hat is that the whole lower portion (the black section below the colored section filled with Primaloft) is just a really lightweight fleece. The cold wind just rips right through that fleece part. This leaves the lower half of my head cold while the top of my head (ensconced in primaloft) is toasty. Frustrating... Poor design choice... I guess MH designed it that way so as not to cut down on your hearing. There must have been some better solution that this though.
Here's what other sites are saying:
More tricked out than some parkas, the Compressor Dome hat from Mountain Hardwear provides you with windproof, water-resistant construction and bomber insulation for alpine climbing and mountaineering adventures. Your head is protected from the cold by a thick layer of PrimaLoft insulation that keeps your head warm even when wet while a micro-fleece-lined ear band gives you full ear construction.
