Mountainsmith Sanctuary

rated 3.5 of 5 stars

The Sanctuary has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best three-season tents for 2024.

Bought this tent on closeout and must have gotten the last one, because I didn't receive any instructions with it. I promptly called customer support at Mountainsmith and got all the help and information I could ever ask for. The Mountainsmith people are a great bunch.

The tent has been used in a variety of condition in the Southeastern US and has performed beautifully in the heat, the cold, and the rain. Set up is a breeze. Entry is easy. The Sanctuary sleeps two adults and two kids exceptionally well considering it is a relatively light backpacking tent. The vestibule has all served us well.

There are a couple of things that could have been done a little better. Namely, there isn't enough venting for really hot days, and the bar that holds the rainfly out over the door twists and droops. Overall, however this has been an awesome tent that has seen at least 30 days of use in the last eight months.

At first I was really amped up about this product due to how light it was for the space and price, but as soon as I was hit with some rain and wind the brow in the front buckled inward.
