This backpack has been glued to my back for the last 6 months. The React has been to school, work, up the mountain, on the overhead compartment, along the Kalalau trail, Telluride...anywhere and everywhere I go.
The main compartment holds my Macbook with a sleeve with room to spare, suspended from the bottom of the bag, so when I set it down the laptop does not make first contact. With my laptop inside, I can fit two large textbooks easily, a slew of pens, 2 journal-size notebooks in each front side-zipping compartment, as well as my U-lock or a helmet on the outside buckle storage space.
My cell (blackberry) fits easily into the shoulder strap and the Huge side mesh pockets can carry a full bicycle-style bottle each no problem. My hats off to the folks at Osprey, they hit the nail on the head with this tough-as-nails daypack.
The React is part of Osprey’s ReSource Series, a collection of four daypacks and two courier bags built almost entirely from recycled materials. This simple, 1,700-cubic inch daypack features a laptop sleeve, smart key clip, recycled PET stretch woven cell phone/electronics harness pocket, recycled spacer mesh harness and backpanel, and internal front panel organization. The React also offers a single zip main panel access, dual front pockets, two recycled PET mesh side pockets, and pass through access to an internal organization pocket.
ReSource Series packs and courier bags are made from a minimum of 70 percent recycled materials by content, 80 percent by weight, and include: 100% recycled PET (made from recycled soda bottles) main body fabric, 100% recycled PET binding tape, 100% recycled PET webbing, 100% recycled PET mesh pockets, recycled buckles – reground from buckle scrap, and 60% recycled spacer mesh.
