Laces. The unsung hero of boots and shoes. These are heroes.

Pros

  • Crazy inexpensive
  • Strong
  • Stay tied
  • Lots of color options
  • Three lengths

Cons

  • None

Something I've noticed is that a lot of good (costly) boot/shoe manufacturers tend to look at the actual laces as an afterthought. I've snapped a bunch and I'm sure most others have as well.  For me, Salomon has been the exception to the rule for durability but they do need a double knot.

After the last snap on a nice pair of shoes I started looking around for a replacement that would deliver. Wasn't even considering cost. Just wanted laces that did their job. I found them.

I went with Rockwear Laces, available on Amazon, and it's one of those cases where you get WAY more than you pay for. As in 7 bucks for two pairs of laces that have shown themselves to be durable and, best of all, do NOT come untied. When you lock in to what you want they stay put.

There's little "bumps" on the laces which keeps them tied exactly how you want them. They come in around 18 different colors and three sizes for shoes and boots—45", 54" and 63". I've had these for about four months on both boots and hiking shoes I use daily and when they snap, I'm covered with the second pair.

7 bucks for something you can rely on that really delivers? Total score. There's another brand with the same "wave" design, Delele, which has some additional sizes (down to 39" and up to 71"') and some more color options if you need something really specific. They also offer two pairs for roughly the same price.

So if you're tired of trying to tie two pieces of shoelaces together, and want something the really delivers on what it's made to do, go for the bumps. They really work.
