Heavy at 27oz for a tarp, but it is large and it's not bare bones. Comes with reflective tie-out cords with tightening straps on 7 of the 11 tie-outs and has mesh pockets to keep the cord/straps tidy when not in use - extremely convenient.
It will definitely hold two hikers and a dog, but not 3 individuals as mfr suggests, except maybe completely spread out horizontal. It is very long and the large size is going to limit where you can put it. However, I'm using it as a tarp for my hammock in 3-season weather and the size works well for that. Using as solo shelter in winter, and it's overkill for that, but very roomy.
