I have used these socks since 2003. I have purchased around 12 pairs. They are great socks and very comfortable in extreme heat and cold weather in the high teens.
- Great fit
- Supper comfortable
- Best socks I have ever owned
- Heel wears out faster than the rest of the sock
- Will shrink if you dry them incorrectly
The only cons: I wear the heel out fairly quickly and when drying them they will shrink pretty bad.

On the Beamer Trail it's the combination of heat and talus that starts to overwhelm your feet. These stay-cool and breathable socks provide ventilation while still padding your heels and toes from uneven terrain. They feature a lightweight, looped merino wool construction on the footbed and shin for cushioning and to disperse excess warmth. The welt is snug to reduce slipping; an arch band adds support. Our Looped Lintoe(R) construction creates an ultra-flat, toe-friendly seam. A combination of fibers improves moisture control and airflow: 62% chlorine-free merino wool/23% nylon/12% polyester/3% spandex. Height is 9.5". Recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.
Patagonia made the Lightweight Hiking Crew Socks for hikers and backpackers hitting the trail in cool to warm conditions. These crew socks come up to your mid-calf, which makes them great to wear with light hikers or running shoes. A special blend of merino wool and synthetic fabrics wicks moisture, fights odor, and delivers next-to-skin softness. Elastic material hugs your arches and prevents the Lightweight Hiking Crew Socks from falling into your boots, while padding at the shin and top-of-foot bolsters comfort.
