photo: Patagonia Long-Sleeved Fezzman Shirt hiking shirt

The best work/hike button-down shirt that I've owned, hands down.

Pros

  • Fits well
  • Lightweight
  • Durable
  • Looks great

Cons

  • None

Out of the countless button-down shirts I've owned, I've never been more happy than with the Patagonia Fezzman. I'm actually wearing the first one I bought as I type this review, and although a nice button-down shirt might not be the most "outdoorsy" of pieces of gear, I think this versatile shirt deserves a review.

What amazes me the most is that I bought my first Fezzman probably in 2009, and after seven years of wearing for work, hikes, and traveling, I have no holes. It seems that other brand name and thin button-downs seem to form holes in the elbows after a few years, but not the Fezzman. I have worn these shirts more frequently, and put them through rough abuse, soaking in sweat, and still: nothing notable as far as damage goes.

They also fit me perfectly. I'm 5'8", 163 lbs, and I wear a medium. Patagonia comes out with different designs every year, and I usually try and add one more to my wardrobe every two years or so, just because of how satisfied I've been with them. I haven't had one that has needed repair or replacement yet. They've all held up very well. Over the years, they've been replacing my other button-downs, and I'm completely fine with that.

The look nice enough to wear to my job, and they are also perfect for traveling. They are thin, lightweight, and they do not wrinkle easily. Made from organic cotton too.
