Patagonia Primo Down Jacket
Just bought this for Christmas (self gift). I wore it skiing yesterday @ Snow Basin Resort (Ogden-Utah). It was a cold snowy day and the coat was a 10. Under I had a thin Smartwool top and I never got cold even when the Porky ChairLift stopped for 5 minutes above the snow maker. The hood is great, even with my helmet on. Lots of great storage. This is a pricey coat but totally worth it.

Lighter, warmer and with a new articulated fit, the Patagonia Primo Down Jacket features 2-layer GORE-TEX fabric for durably waterproof/breathable and windproof protection with 800-fill-power goose down to keep you stoked in the harshest elements, from frigid dawn patrol missions to stormy laps in the trees.
Riding Jackson Hole in cold, turbulent weather can be an opportunity to revel or a one-way ticket to misery. The difference depends on staying warm, dry and stoked. The Primo Down is our warmest and most protective insulated hard-shell jacket for riding in cold, ugly conditions. It combines a durable, 2-layer waterproof/breathable and windproof GORE-TEX(R) fabric with an insulating layer of warm, compressible 800-fill-power premium European goose down to keep you psyched as the temperature drops. A DWR (durable water repellent) finish casts off water and saturated snow, and an internal nylon ripstop lining manages moisture and glides smoothly over underlayers. The 2-way-adjustable, helmet-compatible hood has a laminated visor for optimal visibility; our Touch Point System? embeds cord locks in the hood and hem for easy adjustability. Other features include ventilating pit zips and a removable, sleek, low-profile powder skirt that stays in place whether secured or not. (Webbing loop at center back connects to any Patagonia(R) Snow pants). Pockets: two handwarmers, two chest (one includes a secure media pocket with cable routing), one on the forearm and two interior for gloves or goggles. Slim Zip installation with watertight coated zippers on the pockets and pit zips reduce bulk and weight; Vislon(R) zippers on the center-front and chest pockets are burly and easy to use. Redesigned this season with a new articulated fit for dynamic movement and an embedded RECCO(R) avalanche rescue reflector.
The howling winds beat an asynchronous rhythm against the bare branches, your boogers are harder than concrete, and you have no intention of going inside anytime soon. The Patagonia Men's Primo Down Jacket has been revamped, and is lighter and warmer so you can stay outside longer without tiring from the fatigue of wearing a heavy-as-lead blizzard-busting jacket. The GoreTex shell guarantees waterproof and breathable protection, while 800-fill European goose down provides high warmth-to-weight ratio, giving you a lightweight, ultra-warm, jacket for even your stupidest winter excursions (yes, your mom told us everything).Down remains one of the best insulators when you're faced with extreme cold. Made of feathers and clusters, down creates an intricate lattice in which lots of little air pockets get trapped. The trapped air then acts as a sentry, preventing cold air from penetrating and warm air from escaping. Consequently, thermal regulation is a non-issue. If you're anticipating arctic storms, the relaxed fit of the Primo lets you layer as much as needed. With the Primo Down jacket, it's possible you'll feel the heat when you're working hard building a snow-cave or skinning up a 10% grade on a frigid dawn patrol--unzip the underarm vents for quick cooling. The helmet-compatible hood sports a laminated visor, and Touch Point System cord locks make quick adjustments easy. Goose down fills the draft collar at the back of your neck for extra warmth in extra windy conditions. The powder skirt comes off when you're not slaying snow dragons, and a webbing loop connects the Primo Down jacket to any Patagonia snow pant. An internal drop-in pocket holds your goggles and gloves when you're reliving the last run of the day over a steaming mug of hot buttered rum.
