This jacket fails to be useful as a wet weather fishing…

Rating: rated 1 of 5 stars

This jacket fails to be useful as a wet weather fishing jacket. Water absorbent material in the sleeves and front zipper liner. Very difficult to open the zippers and when you do open them rain pours in. The goofy sleeves catch on oars, branches, fill with water when reaching into the water and flop around when you cast.

I can't imagine this jacket being tested by anyone fishing in the rain and it is supposed to be a salmon steelhead fishing jacket. Overall this jacket has frankly made me wonder what the heck the people at Patagonia are thinking. Form over function I suppose. Well, it failed miserably. Sad to see Patagonia going this way with their products.

The Men's Stretch SST Jacket by Patagonia retains the terrific lightweight, soft, stretchy waterproof fabric of recent years.Patagonia's venerable SST comes in a light, soft and packable waterproof/breathable fabric originally developed for alpine climbers; it affords full stretch for unimpeded casting. But they have brought back some of the traditional features, including gusseted chest pockets: They're generous but streamlined for minimal bulk and easy, one-handed access. The right front pocket has a zippered external pocket for tippets. An internal, waterproof zippered pocket on the left front holds cell phone or camera. Reversed StretchCoat gussets seal out water at the wrists. Details: a stretch hood that folds into the collar and fits over a variety of hats, fleece-lined handwarmer pockets, abundant D-rings, a hidden rod holder and a hook-and-loop-closing back pocket with a secure flap. Imported.

Our venerable classic revisited, improved in all ways. We offer it in a new stretch fabric that is lighter, more breathable and more durable. We've also streamlined the pocketing to provide even more storage but cleaner access and less bulk to get in the way of oars, rod and line. The left vertical front pocket has an inside pocket for tippets. The reversed StretchCoat gussets seal out water at the wrists; a protective cuff prevents line snags. It has an adjustable hood that folds into the collar, fleece-lined handwarmer pockets, abundant D-rings and a hidden rod holder. The men's jacket has a zippered pocket on the back with a storm flap. All exterior zippers are waterproof. A Houdini drawcord hem shortens the length when you need to wade deep.
