User Review: Petzl Attache Screw-Lock

Rating: rated 5 of 5 stars

The Attache screw-lock served as my standard HMS carabiner for a number of years until the William series came out. I still use it for a lot of anchor situations when teaching climbing instructors and for glacier travel. It accommodates 10.5mm and smaller diameter ropes for Munters and muled Munters quite nicely, though muling a device (like an ATC) can be a bit tight on the larger diameter ropes. As a screw-lock, it has the minor problems of all screw-locks - you have to watch how the rope runs through it, since the running rope can unscrew the sleeve; and you have to be sure not to overtighten the sleeve, especially when it gathers the inevitable dirt in the threads.
